Planted a Persimmon Tree!

We planted a beautiful six ft tall Hachiya Persimmon tree. We really needed some trees around here but our soil type (sandy loam with red clay underneath) and our harsh climate makes it difficult. Honestly a persimmon wasn’t even on the radar. I thought burr oak or something like that would be nice. I still do want a burr oak but I saw this beautiful tree on clearance at Walmart for $17.00. I went home that night and researched more about this tree before jumping and buying it.

It is self pollinating, disease resistant and once established it is drought tolerant! Sold! I went back today and there were a few left. The kids and I picked the prettiest one and happily brought it home and planted it. Now just to build a fence around it to keep the goats from getting it just in case they get loose.
